This does not affect functionality. Please follow these cleaning instructions:

1. Mix 2 cups of baking soda with 1 gallon of warm water.
2. Pour the mixture into the water can.
3. Add more warm water to fill the can.
4. Shake the can to ensure thorough mixing.
5. Let it sit for 24 hours, shaking occasionally.
6. Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
